The city of Von Ormy, the newest city in Bexar County, will establish a sister city relationship with Marin, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

The ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on July 28, during the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church Festival in Von Ormy. The event will be at the Parish Hall, 13466 Interstate Highway 35 South.

A delegation from Marin consisting of its mayor, three city councilmen (regidores), and representatives from sister cities of Nuevo Leon will be participanting.

Mayor Martinez de Vara of Von Ormy said he hopes the sister city relationship will be beneficial for both cities.

“We have much in common,” Martinez de Vara said.

“We are both small communities near large metropolitan areas and we are both experiencing unprecedented growth. I believe we can work together to promote greater cultural understanding, share educational opportunities and promote economic development for the benefit of our residents.”

Von Ormy is located in Southwest Bexar County on Interstate 35 South at Loop 1604.
