Officers seize $1.3M in cocaine at Roma Bridge

BROWNSVILLE — Customs officers in Roma found an estimated $1.3 million worth of cocaine hidden in the spare tire of a pickup, Customs and Border Protection said Tuesday.

The seizure occurred Saturday at the Roma-Cuidad Miguel Alemán International Bridge. Officers found 16 packages of cocaine with a total weight of 43 pounds.

The driver, a 26-year-old Mexican citizen from San Nicolás, Nuevo León, Mexico was referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs enforcement for further investigation.
